Heartbeat Victoria and Heart Foundation Walking shared a stand at the recent Bendigo Be Well Be Connected Expo. And we were also able to display our new AED training device, recently donated by Laerdel Medical.
The event featured local exhibitors showcasing aged care, community and disability products and services, allowing visitors to meet face-to-face with service providers, advisors, and community groups. And it was very successful with over 30 people expressing interest in Heartbeat and / or participating in a Bendigo walking group.
Heartbeat Victoria President Christine Rees attended the event and had this to say about the day:
“This event saw more than 70 exhibitors in a community space. Heartbeat Victoria shared our stand with Heart Foundation Walking Program Officer, Alicja Najbar-Kaszkiel and a wonderful day was had by all. Working together we can achieve more for the cardiac community.
I must also thank our wonderful Heartbeat Ballarat Volunteers Leigh Miller and Alan Bell. Leigh and Alan showed how it was best done and I was most grateful of their energy and expertise. The success of Heartbeat Victoria is only achieved because of volunteers like Leigh and Alan.
We connected with some past Heartbeat Bendigo members as well as many other Bendigo residents wanting to improve their health and share the cardiac journey.
Thanks to Laerdal, Heartbeat Victoria now have an AED trainer. It’s not for delivering formal training, but to help Heartbeat Victoria members become familiar with the device so it can be used confidently in an emergency, and it was great to be able to display it at the Expo”.
